SUPER LAWYERS

Well known Stroudsburg attorney James Swetz and his colleague Brian Jordan of Cramer, Swetz, McManus & Jordan, P.C., were named to the 2015 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers List published in the June edition of Philadelphia Magazine.

Swetz, named to the list for an eighth time, and Jordan, named as a Rising Star for the first time, distinguish the pair among Pennsylvania’s top criminal defense lawyers. Only about 5 percent of all Pennsylvania lawyers make the annual Super Lawyers List, according to the Super Lawyers organization.

Super Lawyers is a rating service of top lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

“Despite the ‘hang ’em high’ prejudgment furthered by TV’s talking heads, I believe the presumption of innocence and jury system are what make this country great,” Swetz said. “It doesn’t matter whether I am representing a defendant in a routine DUI in Monroe County or a high profile case in Federal Court. I will defend all to the best of my ability.”
The Rising Star designation is reserved for lawyers under 40 or those practicing less than 10 years. Only 2.5 percent of young Pennsylvania lawyers achieve the Rising Star honor each year, according to the service.

“I believe in representing my clients with conviction, compassion and attention to detail,” Jordan said. “Their interests are what matter to me and I am motivated to help them, support them, and tirelessly provide them with the best defense. No case is ever too small.”
The selection process for the Super Lawyers list starts with balloting by experienced Pennsylvania lawyers asked to identify the best lawyers they have personally observed. The balloting results are carefully researched, and the candidates are ranked based on defined evaluation criteria.

Following that, a blue ribbon panel is assembled for each practice area for the review of the nominees in their area of practice. Finally, point totals from the survey, the research process and the panel review are totaled for the candidates, and the selection is made.

Swetz and attorney Bill Cramer are the founding members of Cramer, Swetz, McManus & Jordan, P.C., one of Monroe County’s largest law firms.

Swetz is the immediate past-president of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, board-certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and listed in the Bar Register of Pre-eminent Lawyers on Martindale.com with the highest peer rating attainable in that publication.

Jordan sits on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and serves as president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Monroe County Bar Association. He has also been named a “Top 40 Under 40” Criminal Defense Lawyer by both the American Society of Legal Advocates and the National Trial Lawyers Association.
